A group of families from church has an annual tradition: They camp for 2 nights in Marina (across the street from the beach) and take a family bike ride to the wharf in Monterey and a park in Pacific Grove (12 miles total one-way). We decided to join the ranks this year, and when I pulled up to the campground I saw GRASS! I thought to myself, "At least Aislynn won't be eating dirt." But as you can see from the pic's she found a small strip of nice dirt while I was setting up camp! I don't think she liked the taste of it...being so close to the beach, it was probably salty!
On Saturday morning we set out on the bike trailer. Aislynn and Noah were in a trailer behind me, and Jaden and Titus were riding solo. I was told the trail was not too hilly, but I beg to differ! I'm pretty sure we were following the sand dunes. Nonetheless, biking was a blast! We got clam chowder and roasted garlic at the wharf, and then continued on to the park. Super-Jaden decided to bike all the way back with another family, while the rest of the kids and I rode back to camp in a 15-passenger van.
We visited the beach after setting up camp, but it was too cold to enjoy for long. (See next post)
